Amiee and Gerald’s Crumplebury Wedding was a joy to work on and made use of all those lovely soft sherbet tones in pink, lilac, pale blues, soft lemon and orange.
Flowers were hugely important to them both and Aimee and Gerald were really keen to incorporate open face flowers, particularly Icelandic poppies, Peonies and Ranunculus.
Being totally honest, the Poppies were challenging to source… the British weather has not played ball this year and alot of flowers are late to bloom. Thankfully Flowers From the Farm members put out the word and I managed to locate a handful from Heather at Catkins and Clematis who is based in Warwickshire.
Aimee‘s bouquet was designed to be full on, big bouncy and full of flowers!
Gerald opted for a pocket square to compliment his pale blue suit and Aimee’s contained flower crown paired beautifully with her bouquet but in a way that let the bouquet lead the vision.
Contrast clean lines with soft, layered florals!
Crumplebury Weddings lend themselves to a clean and modern aesthetic…
So we made use of my lovely white pedestals ( I love these in the Art Gallery) and sculpted them with a large Floral filled vase and layered white bowl creation. A lovely long and low Ceremony Table creation was also commissioned to frame Aimee & Gerald.
All the ceremony designs were then re purposed elsewhere after the ceremony, meaning Aimee, Gerald and their guests could enjoy them all the while longer.
-The grand Hall at Crumplebury was the centre stage for the Wedding breakfast, with long trestle style tables… adorned with flower filled tablecentres that looked magical with the mixed coloured glass candle holders & candles. I love the mini versions too and add a pop more colour to the overall design.
Ceremony Table
Long & Low is a great way to add some florals to your ceremony table!
Aimee & Gerald’s florals included Stocks, Snapdragons, Peonies, Delphiniums, Ceanothus (cut from my own garden), Butterfly Ranunculus alongside the standard variety, Bistort, Azalea, Rhododendron and Forget-me-nots.
The Cake
The standout floral creation however has to be the cake meadow… and what a joy it was to make!
The Cake Meadow had to made last minute, as we needed the cake in situ before creating around it. Sharon at McGowan Cakes was lovely to work with and she even stayed to watch us work our magic on this mini install! Sharon and I liaised avout the flowers being used on the cake itself as it’s important to make sure non- toxic flowers are used ! Anyway- back to the meadow… Faye (my freelancer that day) helped me make this stunning showstopper. We bedded some flowers down low to give the impression of a naturalistic look; letting the stocks, delphiniums spire above and frame the cake.
Having put this stunner of a Cake Meadow out on socials, it’s already proving to be a big hit, so please do let me know if you want to recreate something like this for your special day too! I’d be forever grateful as they are a joy to make !
