Who doesn’t love a good Floral Workshop!?
For the past two years now, I have hosted a Floral Workshop at the beautiful Barns & Yard for fellow Florists and Flower Growers.
Last year we focussed on Arches and this year we tried our hands at a Hanging Installation and Tablescape to sit below…. the images are just sublime- taken by the ever so lovely Naomi Kenton.
The day started over coffee and how we can implement small changes to become more sustainable in our Floristry businesses. I introduced attendees to Flower frogs, test tubes and all manner of other mechanics for them to consider when creating foam free arrangements.
Due to the format of the day and much like IRL set ups- we set about working on the Hanging Install (HI for short). I had previously rigged up some aeroplane wires- hung from an overhead ladder to hold in place a contortion of chicken wire wrapped around a long Hazel branch. It was this base that then allowed us to weave in long-lasting foliage’s such as Oak, Asparagus Fern, Nandina Domestica and Laurel. Once the folaiges were in, we tubed Ammi & Roses called Champagne Moment, to create a “Green & White” Floral aesthetic.
The Tablescape
These were so much fun to make ! We set about creating something a whole lot more floral and less foliage heavy.
We worked with a Floral Frog and Chicken wire to support the stems and used Achillea, Alstromeria, Sweet William as our base florals. Layering in with Roses – Tranquility, Desdemona ad Everlyn, Sweet Peas, Larkspur for our linear form and Corncockle, Cornflowers & Silene for our Dancers.
The palette for our Footed Bowls was soft pastels and once placed on the Table under the HI, we threaded in tubed Sweet Peas to add more colour to tie in with our Table creations and give balance between the two.
Supplier Love
Of course running & hosting a Floral Workshop wouldn’t be possible without my fellow Wedding Suppliers who you can check out via the below links.
