Re-imagining the month of February
for a Real Winter Wedding at Lapstone Barn.

My first wedding of 2024 and it felt SOOO good to get back to creating with flowers! In all honesty, I’ve not worked on a wedding in February, so when Anna, the Bride got in touch to see if I was available I was very excited to be able to help.

Anna & Michael ordinarily live and work in Australia, but wanted to come back to the UK to be married and celebrate the joining of their families. Anna loved the idea of working with seasonal British flowers and was accepting that February can be a little ore challenging, so we settled on the idea of mixing dried and fresh flowers with lovely scented Eucalyptus which perfectly symbolised their Australian roots.

Anna and Michael opted for my Curated Wedding Flower Service which meant they collected buckets of seasonal flowers, foliages and dried materials from my floral studio two days prior to the wedding which gave them plenty of time to DIY their own tables. I was chief in charge of bouquets and buttonholes, delivering them on the morning of this gorgeous Winter Wedding day.

Seasonal British Flowers were sourced from one of my local growers and a British wholesaler based in Cornwall so much greener in terms of travel Vs flown-in imports. ANYWAY, British grown flowers included Tulips, Ranunculus, Blossom, Hellebores, Heather, Sweet William, Eucalyptus, Paperwhite Narcissi with Dried Honesty, Marjoram, Grasses, Statice, Poppy Seed head & Button Achillea.

To differentiate between Anna’s Bridal Bouquet and her Bridesmaids, we kept a pop of those lovely pink tones just to her Bouquet.

This was echoed in the Buttonholes too.

I love the idea of connecting the Bride’s Bouquet to the Groom’s Buttonhole, so I introduced a pop of pink using locally grown Heather to the Groom’s Buttonhole, whilst all the others were kept neutral, just like the Bridesmaid Bouquets.
