Your Wedding Flower Questions Answered

Choosing the right wedding florist is an important decision, and I totally understand that you might have lots of questions.

Below are the things I most regularly get asked, but if you find that your question isn’t answered here, I’m always available on email at: enquiries@brideandbloom.co

What does it mean to work with seasonal flowers?2025-03-08T17:42:42+00:00

Seasonality in floristry means letting the time of year dictate the flowers that are available to you. I work predominantly with British flowers but do also use imported to compliment or help achieve a certain floral aesthetic. I do steer away from more ‘exotic’ florals – orchids, bromeliads, bird of paradise…. my style of floristry is inherently loose and natural – with an essence of the British Countryside. If you prefer for a more tropical Floral look then I am probably not the florist for you.

How much should we budget for our wedding flowers?2025-03-08T17:47:43+00:00

This is a great question, but it’s one that’s tricky for me to answer as every wedding’s budget and requirements are unique.  I do not operate a strict minimum spend but for my Bespoke Design Service, the average spend is around £3500 but budgets usually start around £1800 upwards. Use my helpful guide “The Floral Spend to help you visualise what your investment with me might look like.

However I do absolutely understand that not everyone has this sort of budget in mind, so I’ve created my Curated Floral Design service for smaller weddings and a fuss free way of working together.

How far in advance should we book you?2023-08-01T06:01:09+00:00

I absolutely hate turning lovely couples away, and I do tend to get booked up a fair way in advance (often 9-12 months and sometimes longer). If you like my style and you think you’d like me to be your florist then I’d recommend getting in touch as soon as possible after you’ve set a date and chosen your venue. This is particularly the case if you’re thinking of my Bespoke Floral Design service, which tends to be more in-depth and involve more elaborate designs and installations.

How do I find out what’s in season for my wedding date?2023-10-03T12:42:58+00:00

You can browse my wedding gallery, which is split by season to get an idea of what’s available when OR head on over to my Pinterest account where you can find dedicated boards for each season. Don’t worry – we’ll have a good old chat about all your options during our consultation call, and I’ll make sure you have a really good idea of the season’s star players and more unusual little gems as well.

Do you ever import your flowers from abroad?2025-03-08T17:39:37+00:00

Yes… however my aim is to work with 100% British flowers, 100% of the time, using my trusted local growers but this is not always possible. Sometimes it comes down to volume or perhaps a certain colour palette is required that British can’t facilitate. In this case carefully selected imported flowers will be used to enhance and compliment your Floral brief.

If you prefer for 100% British flowers then that’s no problem and we can discuss at your consultation.

I’m having a very small wedding and only looking for bouquets and buttonholes, but I love your style. Can you help?2023-10-03T12:41:07+00:00

Yes! The Curated Floral Design service allows you to select from a range of floral elements that you need, specify your colour palette, and let me do the rest. One of the packages I’ve put together here focuses on bouquets and buttonholes and is perfect for micro weddings and elopements.

I’ve seen some flowers I love on Pinterest, can you recreate them for me?2023-08-01T05:50:31+00:00

Pinterest is a great way to gather inspiration and figure out what you do and don’t like, and I always recommend my couples create boards to start zoning in on the colours and textures and general feel of the flowers you love. The actual designs will be unique to you and your wedding though, just as it should be – that’s part of the joy of being completely seasonally focused. We let the flowers themselves lead the way!

How do I hold my bouquet?2024-05-25T05:28:05+00:00

Oh I get asked this a lot and love this question – it can suddenly feel like you’re not sure what to do with your hands when they’re full of lovely flowers! Whether you’re using my bespoke or package option I can show you how to hold your bouquet on the morning of the wedding or via a Zoom call.

When & How do I order Funeral Flowers?2025-05-20T06:55:07+00:00

As soon as you have a date for the funeral please get in touch so that I can advise my availability.
In the near future, I will be creating an online system to accept orders with a follow up call to have a chat about your loved one – this is really important to me so that I can get a feel for who I’m creating for.

Please email enquiries@brideandbloom.co or call me on 07811 377362 to discuss your requirements.

What Funeral Flowers do I need to order?2025-05-20T06:52:51+00:00

There is no one strict answer to this question…. you need to consdier what you and your loved one would like and what is within budget. Casket Sprays are by far the most popular choice but you can mix and match items as you see fit.

I will soon be creating a brochure to guide you through sizes & prices. In the mean time please email enquiries@brideandbloom.co or call me on 07811 377362 to discuss your requirements.

Do you deliver the Flowers to the Funeral Directors?2025-05-20T06:54:51+00:00

Yes I do – I will liaise directly with the Funeral Director for the best drop off time to them. Delivery to your chosen Funeral Director is included in your quoted price.

I have some Home-grown Flowers I’d like included- is this possible?2025-05-20T06:58:23+00:00

I would be more than happy to include a special cutting for you in any arrangement. It might be a a special Rose that has meaning to you and your family or maybe you’d like herbs included for a food enthusiast. I am happy to weave in anything you’d like to provide along with the flowers from my local growers and wholesalers.

Can you make the arrangement fully compostable?2025-05-20T07:05:20+00:00

Yes of course- I offer a  range of mechanic options – some reusable and others that can be fully composted. Please do ask when enquiring and I can talk you through options. A particularly lovely way to commemorate your loved one is to opt for a shareable creation. Flowers can be distributed after the service for you all to enjoy.

Can you preserve the Funeral Flowers too?2025-05-20T07:08:45+00:00

It would be my honour to slow press your Funeral Flowers after the ceremony and wake. Flowers will need to be returned to me (preferably in water) asap after so that I can get them into press.

It usually takes between 2-3 months for the artwork to be ready. For flower preservations I do currently ask for clients to provide the frame. The larger the frame the higher the cost. Again this can be discussed on our call.

Do you provide Funeral Flowers Year round?2025-05-20T07:11:18+00:00

I work with the seasons – primarily working with locally & British grown flowers whenever possible. However I do also incorporate sympathetically chosen imported flowers to compliment. This is especially true from October – March when British Flowers are less abundant.

If you would prefer 100% British please do let me know and we can discuss what is possible pending time of year.
