I’ve had the pleasure of working at Barns & Yard since 2020 which has given me plenty of opportunities
to decorate and dress this stunning venue
with British flowers.
Let me talk you through some key areas that look amazing dressed with seasonal flowers & foliage’s to help give you some ideas for your own Wedding Flower Decor at Barns & Yard
Typically, and I speak for my own business, most of my couples are booking me 18 months to one year ahead of their wedding date. So, for example, a couple marrying at the end June in 2026, would be getting in touch any time (give or take) from November 2024 to June 2025. This is actually quite nice, as it not only gives us time to explore their ideas but to consider all the flowers that are blooming at the one year mark ahead of their own Wedding. I use social media like any other creative business and do like to post BTS moments of weddings I’m working on. So it is a good visual reference for couples to be so they can see what might be flowering for their own wedding.
The Cartshed
This light filled space will typically be your ceremony space and there are plenty of options to use flowers here to bring a little outside inside.
- Meadows- these are great to line your aisle and lead the aisle to the top of the aisle where you will be married.
- Cartshed Beam – this looks fabulous dressed with flowers especially mixed back with large floral meadows.
- Alternatively, urns create a lovely focal point and are of course moveable so can be relocated post ceremony.
- A Broken Arch -they look much better than they sound- promise! The options are endless really – go to the side or create a cocoon around the ceremony table.
The Threshing Barn
The Threshing Barn is also part of the ceremony space but here will also form part of your reception area. This area boasts, Hoops, Beams, Stairs and a dedicated Cake Table which looks amazing surrounded by a climbing Stair Wall Installation.
I’d also advise considering where your Top Table will go, as this can help guide you to which areas to decorate. By doing this the florals will help lead the eye and create a focal point and backdrop to yourselves- the newly weds!
- The Stairs up to the Gallery- not an obvious choice but this is a wonderful and dramatic way to add natural, layered florals that reach & climb
- The Hoops – Barns & Yard has 3 Hoops. One above the lower Bay area and 2 in the Threshing Barn itself which all look super dressed in draping foliage’s.
- Beams- the back wall beam suits and lends itself to décor if having a Long Table here or focus a décor section above the stairs or opt to dress the machinery pole.
- Urns & Meadows from the ceremony can also be relocated to either ends of a Long Top Table or placed at the foot of the stairs.
The Courtyard
The Courtyard offers another stunning area to be married in and once again the upright beams provide a lovely opportunity for some florals. Either as a standalone Installation, Arch or Urns all of which provide a pretty focal point for your guests to admire over drinks and canapes.
Lakeside
The outdoor space at Barns & Yard is just stunning and I’ve often enjoyed creating here by the Lakeside, enjoying the leaping carp and resident Kingfisher who skims the water at lightening speed.
Arches, churrns, Urns and Meadows all work beautifully here so you have the versatility of choosing what Floral Decor you like best.
