If you’re planning your Wedding at the stunning Barns & Yard, this article is just for you!

Nice to Meet You!

So, a quick introduction… I’m Hannah Walker of BRIDE AND BLOOM – I’m a studio based florist in Worcester, a stones throw from B&Y (20 minutes by car) and I have been flowering up Barns & Yard Weddings for over 5 years now. Please feel free to ask Lisi & team about me- I am happily listed as a trusted & creative florist, who brings a little “fine art flair” to her work.

Back to You & Your Wedding….

Planning your own Nuptials is a wonderful time of life – dreaming up what it will look like, who will be there, the face on your partners face when they see you for the first time BUT…. it can also feel utterly overwhelming. With so many things to think about it can feel like a never ending list of “to-dos” and suddenly you need to have a second Full time job of researching and organising a hugely important, milestone life event!

This is the bit where I step in and take some of that weight off your shoulders. As a flower obsessed people pleaser (ask anyone), I created this rather handy blog post to help you navigate what to do about your Wedding Flowers at Barns & Yard. We’ll delve into the different areas of the Barns & grounds where I’ll showcase Floral ideas that might take your fancy and help you decide on what florals you’d like where.

Sound good? You better read on….

The Cartshed

This light filled space will typically be your ceremony space and there are plenty of options to use flowers here to bring a little outside inside.

The Ceremony Beam

I have to say, The Cartshed Beam is one of my favourite places to dress with flowers and tumbling foliages. It can be created in a variety of ways too; all the way across, as an A-symmetric design or as the two corners. Of course additional florals can be added to the Ceremony Table too – a Long & Low as like to call them, grouped bud vases and meadows that sit in front of the table on the floor.

Meadows

A great option for an indoor or outdoor wedding as Meadows are easily moved elsewhere after the Ceremony. Throughout my time flowering Wedding at B&Y I have placed meadows evenly down the aisle, staggered them and grouped them at both ends of the aisle to make an “entrance” but also to draw the eye at the Top end where you will be married. Meadows can be smaller or be created almost as larger garden style borders.

Urns & Arches

Like meadows, Urns are a great option in The Cartshed too – they can be paired with meadows, pillar candles or lanterns- all easily repurposed again post ceremony.

Arches here need to be a little more considered – the image I’ve shared here was from a Workshop and we went BIG…. realistically this is too large for a ceremony’s restricts space for you both , the registrar and your guests watching. I’d advise working with the above options or opting for a slimmer look arch or alternative set up – creating one upright section mixed back with meadows.

The Threshing Barn

The Threshing Barn also seats guests during the ceremony but here will also form part of your reception area.

The Threshing Barn
The Bay | The Mezzanine

This area boasts, Hoops, Beams, Stairs and a dedicated Cake Table which looks amazing surrounded by a climbing Stair Wall Installation.

I’d also advise considering where your Top Table will go, as this can help guide you to which areas to decorate. By doing this the florals will help lead the eye and create a focal point and backdrop to yourselves- the newly weds!

  • The Stairs up to the Gallery- not an obvious choice but this is a wonderful and dramatic way to add natural, layered florals that reach & climb
  • The Hoops – Barns & Yard has 3 Hoops. One above the lower Bay area and 2 in the Threshing Barn itself which all look super dressed in draping foliage’s.
  • Beams- the back wall beam suits and lends itself to décor if having a Long Table here or focus a décor section above the stairs or opt to dress the machinery pole.
  • Urns & Meadows from the ceremony can also be relocated to either ends of a Long Top Table or placed at the foot of the stairs.

The Courtyard

Let’s be honest The Courtyard looks amazing as is and of course, Urns can be relocated here after your ceremony…. however I am a total push over for additional florals in this amazing space.

The Upright Beams

The upright beams provide a lovely opportunity for some florals either as a standalone Installation or Arch all of which provide a pretty focal point for your guests to admire over drinks and canapes. Décor could additionally be taken up into the ceiling of the stalls…. not something I have yet had chance to create but am OH SO willing !

Lakeside

It’s hard not envisage an outdoor wedding at Barns & Yard when you are surrounded by such natural beauty.

An Outdoor Ceremony

The outdoor space at Barns & Yard is just stunning and I’ve often enjoyed creating here by the Lakeside, enjoying the leaping carp and resident Kingfisher who skims the water at lightening speed.

Arches, Urns, Milk Churns and Meadows all work beautifully here so you have the versatility of choosing what Floral Décor you like best and of course what might suit your budget.

Let’s consider Floral arches first…. Barns & Yard does has its own metal arch which florists are welcome to use and decorate. This can be designed as a full arch or A-symmetric/ Broken look (see bottom right image).

Similarly, I have my own weighted metal uprights (handy for more blustery days) which are usually created as two separate uprights but look harmonious together- creating a look of one installation. Miranda & George’s arch (middle image below) escaped around them to gently encase them for their ceremony & became a great backdrop for family portraits. It is possible to move Arches but it does have it’s draw backs as it is quite a messy business and requires guests to vacate the area while it is moved.

However, Urns, Milk Churns and Meadows can all be moved back inside and look great positioned behind or in front of the Top Table, in the Courtyard, by the Cake Table or either stairs in the Threshing Barn area.  Ideally the location or your ceremony will be decided the day before – especially if you’re having an arch so that the mechanics can be prepared. Items that are easier to be moved can be placed on the morning giving you plenty of time to make the call about our British weather.

SO, WHICH LOCATIONS & IDEAS DO YOU LIKE BEST?

I’d happily chat over any questions or ideas you have for Wedding Flower Décor at Barns & Yard- especially if you keen for draping foliages off The Cartshed ladder or in The Stalls…. I’m always up for creating new design ideas at this gorgeous venue!

I still have availability for 2026 and am also now booking 2027 – which tbh gives you plenty of time to see what’s growing seasonally as you’ll be on the one year count down next year.

You can find more info about how I work on my Wedding page – working on a Bespoke level OR if you just need The Essentials, my Curated Collection might be the perfect answer for you!
